The Pacific Northwest can be damn nice when the sun's out, and damn miserable when it rains ... and rains ... and rains. There are people that like the rain. I'm not one of them. Even when you just hibernate indoors, you know sooner or later you'll have to go outside and deal with it. I must admit, I've become much more tolerant of the rain since moving here, but I am by no means happy with it. It's especially bad when it just rains for days at a time without a break. Sigh. Just more reasons to stay inside. And blog.

I'm still deciding whether blogging has any interest, value, purpose, enjoyment, payback, or entertainment. The jury is still out. It's not looking good, since I'm already reduced to writing about the weather.

So, the challenge here is to figure out why in hell I even want to spend time creating this blog. Now that I'm past the investigation of the basic technology, theorectically this is supposed to fullfill some useful, conent-oriented purpose.

So, what motivated me to even start this process. I guess it was my Mom. She recently read about blogging and was interested to find out more. While I was certainly familiar with blogging, I'd never gotten around to trying it myself. So, I figured it was about time to try it out.

But what to write about? My work? Mostly confidential. My hobbies? Ok, that's a possibility. My personal life? I don't think so. Random thoughts? Yeah, probably. We'll give it a try for a while and see what happens.

Ok, I've finally gotten all the configuration stuff figured out so I can now publish the blog directly to my website.

I'm in NYC for the PhotoPlus Expo, looking at lots of cool camera goodies. Flying back early tomorrow morning. Broadband in the hotel is still cool.

Ok, for some strange reason I decided to try the world of blogging. I fully expect this is something I'll do on and off for a few weeks and then totally ignore after that. So, you are all forewarned.
